Standard Format 96-Well Microplate
The 96-well standard format well plate is available with a variety of options. The microplates are manufactured out of a single piece of polymer, (PS) polystyrene, in transparent, or colored white or black. The standard format well plates are manufactured with a “chimney well” design. The wells are separated from each other with a gap to help eliminate carryover and reduce the risk of cross-contamination. When using the standard 96-well format microplates with the condensation rings of the lid, evaporation is reduced substantially.
The 96-well format is unique in the sense that their are four distinct bottom shapes available including U-bottom, V-bottom, F-bottom, and C-bottom shapes. The 384- and 1536-well format microplates are only offered in F-bottom. The most of the 96-well plates come color coded for easy identification of surface type and to facilitate the legibility of the alphanumeric coding, most 96-well format microplates come with color-coding embossing.
96-Well With Transparent Bottom
The 96-well format microplate with transparent bottom is offered with the F-bottom shape and is available in two colors, black pigmented and white pigmented. They are manufactured with a transparent bottom made of (PS) polystyrene. These microplates are well suited for applications like luminescence and fluorescence measurements, when a transparent bottom is required. This type of microplate is ideal for performing transmitted light measurements directly under the microscope, which can be quite important, especially for cell-based assays. Crosstalk between wells during detection is reduced since the upper structure of the microplate is pigmented.
